ABOUT
Ovella Davis is a native of Detroit, Michigan. A graduate of Detroit Public Schools, she discovered her purpose shortly after graduation.
Due to the sudden unexpected death of her mom, she began an immediate search for her purpose in life. Lost without the guidance and wisdom of her mother, she felt she had no purpose in life and no reason to live. However, she possessed a unique gift of playing the organ by ear and that gift led her to church. It was there that she began to understand that she had a higher purpose. Her passion for learning led her to Henry Ford Community College, where she studied Mass Communications. Although she attended college, her heart was never fulfilled in this. After three years, she decided not to continue. Still searching for purpose, she was introduced to Dr. Myles Munroe and his teachings on Purpose which changed the trajectory of her life.

Ovella added to her studies, a variety of theological courses through the Ecumenical Training Association. After serving 35 years as a ministry leader, organist, and music administrator, she accepted her spiritual calling to Pastor. Ovella now serves as the Senior Pastor of Always in Jesus Presence Ministries (AIJP).
AIJP celebrates its 17th year in June 2024.
As purpose would have it, Ovella also is the founder of The United Communities of America, The UCOA, a 501(c)3 community organization. Her passion for youth and their need for purpose has developed into multiple initiatives. The most noted, is, “Students for Peace," a youth violence prevention program that has stopped violence and bullying in 4 schools; and the CODE22 initiative.

CODE22 is recognized as a "No violence day" on the 22nd day of each month. Over 13 Mayors and cities have awarded proclamations to the UCOA that declare each 22nd as the City-Wide Day of Peace and Healing. The goal is 24 hours of No Violence. CODE22 is a monthly protest of violence. Citizens everywhere are asked to wear white and work intentionally to create ways to promote peace each month on the 22nd. The mission focuses on the reduction of crime through the promotion of peace, healing, positive change and purpose. The vision is for lawmakers to create a National No Violence Day each 22nd: aka CODE22. CODE 22 is supported by Detroit Police Chief James White, Wayne County Sherriff, Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield, and Crimestoppers of Michigan's Dan Di Bardino and others. In 2020 – during the COVID-19 Pandemic – Ovella was introduced to the Purpose Development Institute of Atlanta, Georgia. After two years of grueling studies of a groundbreaking curriculum, she achieved her certification and has become Michigan’s first Purpose Development Coach. Her coaching skills in purpose development have proven vital to a generation overloaded with external content.

Dr. Donald Jenkins, CEO of the Purpose Development Institute and his research team have discovered a deficiency in human growth and development known as P.D.D. Purpose Deficit Disorder. This discovery is a game changer in the study of purpose.

Pastor Ovella currently serves as the 1st female chaplain in Wayne County; and is also a speaker, trainer, and the proud mother of 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren.
PURPOSE DEVELOPMENT
Pastor Ovella recognizes through her training that many people – especially youth – are suffering from the effects of Purpose Deficit Disorder (P.D.D.). Purpose Development Coaching can greatly reduce the risk of personal failure and the distractions of external influences caused by P.D.D. Purpose Development Coaching can empower and enrich lives by applying the strength that comes from developing purpose.
